          To take the place of the first Princess Royal, a new paddle steamer of the same name was built in 1857. As in the case of the Burns steamer Panther, built in the previous year, the bowsprit and figurehead were omitted from the design. This ship was sold to foreigners, and then to the General Steam Navigation Company London, and in 1860 was re-named Berlin.
